I was born in 1960 in Minster on the Isle of Sheppey in Kent. I married my wife Claire in 1994 and our son Ricky was born in 1997. We all still live in Sheppey.
My career included working in the North Sea on Rigs, Saturation Diving and Underwater Welding. I've led an active life with hobbies including Motorcycle Racing, Windsurfing, Scuba Diving, Jet Skiing, Squash, Swimming and more restfully, Respraying Cars and Motorcycles. However, in 1991 I was involved in a Motorcycle accident and am now paralysed from the chest down.
With a life changing experience, I had to modify my hobbies; I now Refurbish Motorcycles instead of riding them. I'm an Archery and Clay Target Shooting fan too. I love to Swim, Read and Paint (hence this website), which I began in 1994 having received a starter kit as a Christmas present.
I spent most of my childhood exploring the island with my friends. Living close to water has had the greatest influence on my painting. I am inspired by the great outdoors and enjoy painting all aspects of the changing moods of water; they all offer unique challenges to paint. My work gives me a feeling of peace and tranquillity and I hope it gives viewers an opportunity to reflect on an uninterrupted moment.
I love to paint things that I believe most people pass by without noticing, showing the beauty in everything around them. I enjoy my watercolours and the fine detail I can achieve using Pastel Pencils, but when I began painting with an Airbrush in 2012, I found the difference in the style and subjects I can create absolutely amazing!
My professional tuition began with Joe Dowden, an accomplished Water Colour Artist, which I won as a prize in a competition organised by the Society for All Artists, (SAA). I continue to attend professional classes, learning specific methods and techniques to enhance my skills, both as an artist and now, a teacher of art to others.
I work on both private and corporate commissions and sell my work to buyers in the UK and abroad. I also teach art students of all ages and abilities.
